Hey there, Mauricio Sabater! Tell us about yourself?

Hi, I’m Mauricio Sabater, 32 years old and I am working from a private office at OneCoWork Catedral. I was born in Barcelona but I have lived many years abroad in Austria, Germany, France & Belgium. Truly European!

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?...

When work allows me to take a break, what I like to do most in life is head out to sea. I am a big fan of water in general, so scuba diving, sailing, fishing, swimming… I can’t get enough!

… and professionally? What do you do?

I’m the general manager for Virtuo in Spain, a completely reinvented car rental service that is 100% mobile, hassle free, and operating with premium cars. We just recently started operating in Barcelona and are soon heading to Madrid.

Virtuo is a start-up that raised 30 million euros, the company is french and expanded to Belgium and UK very quickly, and now we’re in the fourth expansion phase with the launch in Spain.

Did you immediately find your dream job, or what did your journey to finding your career looked like?

I studied business administration like many of us have, because it was the most convenient and easy thing to do when you don’t have a clue of what you want to become in life.

Through random choices in life I ended up working for one car maker, then another and I ended up getting very involved in the mobility business. Funny thing is, I actually don’t really care about cars but I’m very much into the concept of mobility and reducing our footprint in urban environments.

Where is your favourite place to hang out in OneCoWork?

I’d say my favourite place is in the Hot Desk area at Catedral, I try to hang out there but with the recent launch of Virtuo in Spain we’ve had little time to exit our cosy office. This will change!

Give 3 tips to our readers!

Enjoy yourself, as much as you can, and try to combine that with work. And never miss the festival season: Primavera Sound & Sonar are a must if you’re in Barcelona!

If you were an animal, what would you be ?

I would be an orca. They’re mean yet beautiful; work in teams like no other species and are apparently very emotional.

What is your motto?

Always treat people like you would like to be treated!

Book recommendation?

My favourite book is Cien Años de Soledad by Gabriel García Márquez, but also a big fan of Daniel Steele novels. (Just kidding).
